We had spent many a night waiting for our biggest event so far this year, the largest illuminated carnival in Europe!
With a rumoured 100,000 people attending we were prepared for the masses. Unfortunately the afternoon was a complete washout with the torrential rain it was difficult to see us pleasing any one with a delicious brew!
Fortunately the weather eased up for the evening, people started to arrive around 6pm and set up their spots for the eagerly awaited 57 carnival floats.
Having both attended the event in previous years we had experience of the quality engineering and magic involved in each of the carnival floats. However, when we saw the first float approaching with full size water spraying mechanical elephants to the sound of Jungle Drums, we knew we were in for a treat!
Some fantastic floats and great local support mixed with a welcoming atmosphere makes Bridgwater Carnival one of the biggest attractions in the South West, the 2011 Carnival was certainly a success! Cedric the Tea Van was unusually not in the limelight!
The teapigs Spiced Winter tea made its début which received great reviews and we also trialled some home-made fudge and toffee. The few trial packs were sold by the end of the evening and there will definitely be a fresh batch made for the upcoming Taunton Christmas Festival on the 20th November.
The Carnival was thoroughly enjoyable, we will definitely be back again!
Quote of the event: “a lovely couple of mugs too!”
